Who Needs a Dell

I’ve been waiting a while for Dell to hurry up and release it’s rumoured Mini-Inspiron. I’d been looking at the alternatives out there but considered that the concept images of the dell drew me in.

That was until i paid a visit to curry’s last week and spotted the Advent 4211. For those that don’t know it’s a clone of the MSI Wind. But I liked what I saw. The unhelpful store assistant had to go away to find out it’s wait despite it been written on the sticker attached to the display model but was helpful enough to inform me that they had none in stock. At the time this actually felt like it might have been a good thing, the delay allowing me time to check up on a model I had largely been oblivious to. of course once i got to read the positive comments that most people had made about the Advent it no longer seemed like such a good thing. A little searching around the DRG groups web sites and I discovered there were some in stock at PC World in Leeds so I reserved it and picked it up the following day.

It turns out the MSI Wind in a different outfit is a fantastic piece of kit. The 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor supported by the 1Gb of RAM seem more than capable at handling anything I’ve thrown at it so far. The 3-cell battery keeps the wait of the overall unit down but still provides me with the 2 hour battery life I need to travel to York and back everyday. The specs are in fact identical to the latest rumours of the Dell machine, rather than these details suggesting the Dell is getting closer it adds more weight to the fact that it has been completely made up. With details of currently available mini-laptops having a Dell badge slapped on them.

Regardless I’m going to stick with my Advent, which for those of you who a keeping track is named Artemis.

The Promise Of September Sun

As August draws to a close all the talk is about the warm September ‘THEY’ say we’re going to be having. Since the start of this wonderful British summer we’ve put up with the constant rain with the promise of an Indian Summer just around the corner.

The problem is ‘THEY’ are the same people who I’ve listened to when deciding whether or not to take a coat and often getting wet after leaving it home. ‘THEY’ are the same people that have told us we’ve received a normal amount of rain for August. Strange I don’t ever remember the Races at York being abandoned completely because of flooding?

We can just wait and see, I don’t hold out much hope though.

Guilt Trip

It’s about a 500m walk down to my local off license. Yet on the short walk there as I fancied a couple of cold beers on this glorious summers evening, I was passed by no fewer than 17 people out running.

It’s a times like this that I think there may be a god, and he’s a complete b*****d

Attention Dell

OK Dell, Listen up!!! This is the space that your new Dell E or Dell E Slim needs to fit in. I don’t like sitting at a table so It’s got to fit on the tray table of a TPE train. Also if you could hurry up and get it built I would appreciate it because I’m really bored on the way to work. Thank you.

Player Loyalty

You can’t help the feeling of Deva vu when it comes to the Gareth Barry situation at Villa. Not in relation to the Villa captain but those in Merseyside might do well to remember what it felt like in the summer of 2005 when their proud captain came within a hair’s breadth of joining the Russian revolution at Stamford Bridge.

Then, as now, the Captain felt let down and ignored by the club he had served so well. Then, as now, the decision wasn’t made following long drawn out discussion regarding the clubs direction and ambition but by the lack of any.

Both Captains, proud men and leaders on the pitch were hurt and bitter by their respective clubs lack of tender loving care, both men wanting to be reassured that they are loved and they do matter.

Unfortunately this is what we’ve come to expect from the modern footballer.

Ronaldo is another perfect example. The Portuguese star believes it is the club that owes him. Sir Alex’s reward for turning a teenage, almost player with one step over to many, into one of the most lethal attacking players we’ve ever been luck enough to witness is to get to sell him at the peak of his game to one of his closest rivals (In Europe at least). All because the player believes the club owe him that for his loyalty!!!

Unfortunately for the players these public outbursts only serve to remind them of one thing. It is the club that we support. Players, managers and these days even Owners come and go but the club remains.

Gerrard realised this and it was the thought that his Liverpool would go on without him that kept him at Anfield.

They’ll be no such sentiment from Barry and Ronaldo.

Attracting the Google Bot

I’m quite impressed that in a search for ‘lfc transfer rumours’ my little blog appears in the top twenty on that search engine thingy Google.com.

This all stems from last summer when, whilst being driven crazy by the lack of football, I decided to try and keep tabs on the players that Liverpool were being linked with. It didn’t work, I don’t think we actually signed anyone I mentioned but obviously I did enough to attract the google bot.

Stop Tormenting me Dell

I love getting e-mails from Dell. dell

You see I already know all about their XPS series. The M1330 is my laptop of choice, the only thing stopping me from having one right now is I don’t quite have the £969 it will cost me to build my ideal spec. The fact is I’m £969 and selling my DVD’s on eBay at 99p a time isn’t going to get me there any time soon.

That’s the second e-mail I’ve felt the need to blog about this afternoon, I think I need to take a look at my newsletter subscriptions.

Live It Up In Leeds For £10

It would appear that national express east coast don’t know where I live, a one-way ticket to Leeds is £1.80 from the bus stop just outside my house.

Thought I’d have a little play with Alien Effects in photoshop too.

Football’s future

“When you become an owner, you have advantages, but you have responsibilities. That’s why I don’t believe it is the right message to drive up to the ground in a flash car. Some people there, who have come to cheer the team, have struggled to buy a ticket for their kid. What am I going to do — turn up in a Phantom?”

I wish all Football Cllub owners were like Portsmouth’s Sacha Gaydamak. Saying that it wouldn’t hurt some of the players to have his kind of mentality.

I was going to support Cardiff, as the underdog, on Saturday but after reading this article and comparing him to the man who Cardiff call their owner I think I’m going to support Portsmouth, Sacha Gaydamak deserves it.
